Cookery Holiday and the Tastes of the South
My Italian Job offers a cookery programme that provides the unique opportunity to experience the South of Italy through its cuisine.
Classes are small, informal and take place in the family kitchen of a farmhouse and a converted monastery in the heart of an historic hill-top village.
Family owners will demonstrate cooking techniques, that have been passed down through generations, and help you prepare attractive and delicious regional dishes using fresh ingredients at their seasonal best.
You will visit the local market, learn how to recognise and pick wild vegetables and visit local farms to see the process of making olive oil, wine, cheeses and salumi.
The local italian dishes you will learn to prepare include:
- Pasta dishes or ‘primi’.
- Meat and vegetable dishes, or, ‘secondi’ and ‘contorni’.
- Italian ‘Salsa’. The backbone of all tomato based pasta sauces.
- Local bread and ‘foccacia’ (pizza type flat bread).
Free time will also be available to explore the surrounding countryside, local villages and markets.
