Day 1

• Arrival at Bari airport
• Transfer to Matera and hotel in heart of Sassi
• Welcome 'aperitivo' (pre-dinner drink) to meet My Italian Job team and rest of group

Day 2

• Morning, guided tour of the ‘Sassi’ of Matera with an experienced English speaking guide who will cover the historical and architectural aspects of the Sassi, including the lifestyle of the local peasants that used to live in the cave dwellings and a visit to local arts and crafts workshops
• Free time for a relaxed lunch
• Afternoon tour of ‘Parco Murgia’, the park of rock churches, on the other side of the Matera ravine

Day 3

• Morning, travel to Irsina, a typical mountain village of Basilicata, for a guided tour of the medieval historic centre
• 3-course lunch included in a local trattoria to sample a selection of local specialities
• Return to Matera late afternoon and free time to relax

Day 4

• Morning, tour of the countryside around Matera including the vineyards of wines made from the ‘Aglianico grape’ and classified as ‘Denominazione di Origine Controllata’, or, DOC. Here you will enjoy a tour of the vineyard and the opportunity to taste a number of the wines produced
• Followed by 3-course lunch of regional dishes, using local produce, before going on to visit a selection of local farms where you will see the traditional processes for making olive oil, cheese, salami, and dry cuts (depending on the time of year)
• Return to Matera and free time to relax

Day 5

• Check out of hotel in Matera
• Transfer to Metaponto (coastal village) in the afternoon, check into coastal farmhouse with swimming pool
• Free time to relax on the beach or by the pool with evening meal included (drinks excluded)

Day 6

• Morning, guided visit to open-air museum of the Magna Grecia including remains of ancient temples and an amphitheatre
• Free time to relax on the beach or by the pool with evening meal included (drinks excluded)
  

Second Half of Holiday

Day 7 - 13

• Begins second part of holiday. Free time at Metaponto with half board accommodation (drinks excluded) or optional transfer to Maratea.
• The following leisure activities can be arranged: water sports, bike riding, horse riding. Two 18 hole golf courses are near by.
• Optional day trips to the Lucanian Dolomites mountain range, Pollino National Park and other areas of local interest are available on request.

Day 14

• Check out and transfer backl to Bari airport

* NOTE: This price is per person based on two people sharing a double/twin room and with groups of 8-10 people for day trips and transfers. This includes mini-bus transfers from and to Bari Airport and travel during the first 6 days of the holiday, bed and breakfast accommodation in a high quality hotel in Matera and half board farmhouse accommodation at Metaponto.

Single person bookings are welcome at a supplementary charge. Larger and/or family groups can be arranged on request. 

Flights are not included but this can also be arranged on request.

In the event that cancellation is necessary due to under-booking we will contact you no later that 20 days prior to departure date.
