Getting to Irsina

Closest airports

Bari Palese Airport: (90 km).

Naples International Airport: (210 km).

Rome Airports (Fuimicino/Ciampino): (approx 400 km).

Driving Directions

From BARI:

  1. Leave Bari taking the direction Altamura/Matera  the SS96,  (from airport follow sign for Modugno until you see these signs)
  2. Pass Altamura on the SS96  and follow straight on for Gravina where you will see signs for Irsina as you approach Gravina.
  3. Follow these signs and you will reach Irsina. The last 11 km is a curvey road and you will see Irsina perched on the top of a hill.

From NAPLES:

  1. From Naples take the "Tangenziale" (ring road) direction CASERTA, ROMA, E842, A16, AVELLINO, A14, BARI. Continue along the A16 /(E842) direction Bari, Canosa, Avellino, Benevento (Around 121 KM).
  2. Exit the Motorway at Candela and take the SS655 direction Melfi, Lavello, Matera Potenza. Go straight on for around 40 Km direction Matera (you need to pass the junctions for Melfi, Lavello) until you reach a block on the SS655 that forces you to turn to the right on a small road.
  3. Immediately after (0.2 Km) turn left on the SP25 direction Spinazzola. After 7 Km you will reach a T-Junction where you will turn left on the SP232 direction Spinazzola. After 2 Km turn right on the SP233 toward Irsina, Bradanica SS655. After 2 Km turn left, back on the SS655 direction Matera.
  4. Go straight on for around 30 Km until you see the exit for Irsina / For 4-5 Km follow the the signs that will take you up to the hill of Irsina.

From ROME:

  1. From Rome take the Motorway A1 (E45) direction south toward Naples (Napoli) and drive for Around 180 Km. Continue along the A30 /(E841) direction Bari, Canosa, Avellino, Benevento (Around 20 KM). Continue along the A16 /(E842) direction Bari, Canosa, Avellino, Benevento (Around 115 KM) .
  2. Exit the Motorway at Candela and take the SS655 direction Melfi, Lavello, Matera Potenza. Go straight on for around 40 Km direction Matera (you need to pass the junctions for Melfi, Lavello) until you reach a block on the SS655 that forces you to turn to the right on a small road.

Note: You will need to change train either at Altamura or Gravina to reach Irsina (depending on train). You must ask the controller on the train (or, when buying the ticket) which station.

Irsina train station is 7 km from Irsina and there is a shuttle bus service to the town for 1 euro one way. You will see the bus  immediately outside the station when you arrive.
